Berastagi. Gunung Sibayak.

Gunung Sibayak

Day for enjoy the trekking. I’ve left the guesthouse early for be sure to don’t get dark in the middle of the mountains. Despite the fact that it wasn’t really high, with the sun, high temperatures and humidity, it has been a sweaty walk but nice challenge.

I have to say that the climbing has been pretty dynamic because it was crowded of students from Medan who wanted to take a picture with me and practise their English. In every place was a new group of adolescents calling me: Hellooo Mister!!!

I really appreciate the fumaroles, vents through which gases escape. Sulphur is the most pungent of the steaming vapours and causes difficulty in breathing if you get too close. Sulphur also lends its brilliant yellow colour to some of the surrounding rocks. Finally, scientifically speaking I can add that volcanos are classified by how much silica they contain and you can know it for among of pumice (porous material on the sand).

It took me around six hours to get to the summit and go back to the city. I’ve arrived at 2pm, for this reason I decided to don’t waste the time and have a walk through the city. I’ve bought some fruit (really sweet mangos) in the city market. Also I had an important job to do. I had to decide my next step. After few hours checking the guide-book… the next city will be Medan which is the capital and biggest city of Sumatra. My intention is spend just tomorrow there and the next day leave to Bukit Lawan.

From airport to Danau Toba. First Stop.

Catalan? Castellano? English? Let’s try!

Just arrive to the airport, Ramses who is the brother of Ronny (he was working in the same restaurant as me), picked me up and we drive through the night and rush traffic of motorbikes and buses until Porsea.

I have to recognize that I were really scared. He didn’t speak English. It was dark. The drive way was so dangerous and the road too small. Also we get a flat and we had to change the wheel… no comments….

3am and we are to Porsea village. I just can go up from the stairs and sleep on the wood floor covered with two blankets.

Obviously at 6-7am the sunlight enter from the roof and the cocks don’t stop to yell. I can’t describe the shelters just have a look to the photos. It was awesome stared at the mum cooking in the modest and simple kitchen. I really felt in my house. One of the main purpose of this trip has been done.

The worst thing to assimilate was the way to go to the toilet… no toilet…no bottom to push the water… no paper… no light… just a hold on the floor and a bath full of water and a pan for take it….

This was so difficult to do it… but I thing that with practise it’ll be comfortable because my ass finish completely clean and without any scratches of paper!!! Hahaha J

Before go to Danau Toba we had a delicious but so spicy lunch. A really rural fish and rice with a devilled souse. The shocked thing is in Indonesia they eat with the hands. For me, it’s more much difficult than do it with the cutlery. I can’t do it!!!! I’m not able to and I don’t have this ability!!!

From the Wharf of Danau Toba we took the ferry for go to Tuk Tuk island. There we took a bajaj (sidecar) for do a walk, take some pictures and go back. It was a fabulous experience.

The time is over

What? What happened? Already?

The time run too fast. I’ve already spent eight months in Australia. Mainly in Sydney where I’ve gotten infinitive experiences. I can say a lot of things about theses months, but I thing that’s much better make a video.

I just want to keep in mind that this is not a “good bye” because after Indonesia I’ll come back for conquer you. It’ll be time for travel and make crazy adventures instead to work and study. Surfer life I’ll be there!!!

Another kind of sport planning

How to plan your exercise and do all you want to do??!!!!

Sometimes it is difficult to follow a big schedule or/and be organized when you don’t have a routine established. I often find myself in this situation.

The first thing:

The first thing before starting to do anything is to decide a goal on a short term (between 30 days and 90 days). It doesn’t matter if it is a race, a weight or size to rise up, kg to lose or gain, muscles to show, technique to improve, to tone up, stretching, feel alive, etc.

After that, obviously you must decide how many days per week and hours per day you will dedicate towards this activity.

It’s important to say that the goal should be realistic and it should be flexible to yourself.

What planning is involved?

It consists of ting up stickers for everything that you want to do in a predetermined period of time. You must not considerate work, studies and home-duties. You must write down the different training sessions that you would like to do, where you would like to do them and in which method you would like to do for get your goal in this period of time that you have chosen.

For example, in my case, I did this:

I recommend you to calculate how many hours you will have in total and how many things you have to do in the different stickers. Sometimes could happen that you write too many things for a limited time.

How does it work?

This kind of planning is based in sensation feelings. The methodology is easy. When you know your schedule for the week or for the next few days, stick up the stickers that you want or have to do for the next days creating and mental obligation for realized. In this way, you will never stop training and you will feel that you are reaching your goals in a logical manner.

It is important to not skip training and be disciplined. The other thing that we must keep in minds is that it is as important the hardest sessions as the easiest or slowest sessions.

Advantages:

1-       It is an organized method for achieve your goal and do everything that you want to do.

2-       You always have something to do for the next day and you don’t have make up for it.

3-       This is an easy way for everyone and you can individualize it.

Disadvantages:

1-       It is not easy to keep a regular routine.

2-       It’s difficult to work out all that you want within a limited period.

3-       It is a home-made planning without sport specialist assistance.

Great Ocean Road - Philip Island - Melbourne

This was one of the most amazing trips I've never done. The trip was planned up for go to watch Open Australia matches, specifically, the fort best. Despite that, we use the tip for realize the famous Great Ocean Road and visit some "penguins" in Philip Island.

The flight from Sydney to Melbourne airport took about two hours and a half. Naoki (my Japanese ex-room-mate) and Pogan (friend of him) together with Victor (from Barcelona) and me rented the minivan while the time that Victor "two" (friend of Victor) and his girlfriend Sandra arrived. It was a huge car and it was enough for spend three days travelling across all the cost.

Yet the first day we started the trip, driving through amazing landscapes and getting away the Rip Curl competition beach. Fortunately we could take a rest doing a great barbecue in Apolo Bay. In my opinion that was the best place of the trip. Basically, it was a "backpacker-hostel" in the middle of the dessert with incredible views to the sea with all the quietness of the world.  Of course, that we did the typical bonfire in the middle of the sand playing songs with the guitar.

It's pretty difficult If I would say that the second day was worse than the first one, because we contemplated Koalas sleeping on the trees (because they don't do anything more...just sleep and eat some leafs...), and we witnessed the sunset in the amazing Twelve Apostles.

ohhh!! yes yess yeahh! and I wouldn't like to forget about the best free jumping competition from the highest wharf ever seen in Port Campbell where we didn't agreed about the winner but we can say that Naoki did the riskiest jump ever, so that, he had painful in his neck and chest during all the night...  (Unfortunately I don't have the video).

Going ahead to the next day and a half (until we arrived to Melbourne) were the worst moments during the trip. The reasons are:

·         We travelled for more than 8 hours by car, but the problem was that the temperature outside the car was 45 degrees.

·         We arrived to Philip Island starving and really tired about the trip, although we didn't be sleepy and, furthermore, it was an island with nothing interesting to do...

·         The next day when we went to see the cute penguins that we had seen in the pictures, we realized that It was built a similar Port Aventura attraction and it costed 25 $ just how the fucking penguins leave from the sea to enter in their dens. And the most incredible was that "all" that performance from 30 metres from them.  Obviously that we decided to don't pay and we didn't see them (as a Spanish guys we tried to skip the wire fence but it was impossible, and also one worker caught us hahaha).

We arrived to Melbourne leaving the car on time, although we were really frightened because we delivered it with a small hole in the boot (a small crash against a light post), nothing special that they didn't realized because we keep the boot open up.

Definitely in Melbourne, in the backpacker, with a lot of things, monuments and streets to visit, but with the mainly thing to do…. go to watch the Australia Open Tennis.  Basically it was what we did during these three – four days. We spent two days around the huge and immense facilities and the different stadiums such Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena. Furthermore we could watch as important players as Nadal, Djokovic, Wawrinka, Sharapova, William… Obviously, all of us, we enjoyed like a children despite the fact that we were holding up almost 45 degrees temperature.

About Melbourne, we could enjoy beautiful places such St. Kilda beach and bars, an enormous night market with live music and all kind of food, an amazing rooftop bar with 360` views and the walkway river.

Enough words…This is the video resume!!!!!!!

Costal Walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee 10km just go ¡Vaya personaje!

Cap d’any 2013-14!
